Da Flood

This winter was the coldest and snowiest winter Estonia has had in 10 years. Since there was sooooooo much snow, the warm weather has caused many flooding problems within Estonia. The river that flows through the heart of Tartu has risen about 7 feet in the past 3 weeks...and it continues to rise more each day. Some of the town has had to evacuate their homes because they have been flooded. It is not only a problem in Tartu, but it is a major problem within the entire country. The fields along the highway look like newly formed lakes. I don't know what will happen if the river continues to rise, but I'm about ready to build myself a boat just to be safe!

The city center WITHOUT snow!!

The river has risen to cover the walkways along the river.

Children playing in the flooded walkways.

The river is close to flooding some of the buildings.
