So I discussed how walking down the sidewalk was like playing a game that you can't win because it is always slippery outside and you are bound to fall. Well the rule of the game have changed just a little. It has been surprisingly warmer here so things have started to melt. Do you know what happens when 3 feet of snow starts melting? It creates HUGE puddles. The game is no longer trying to stay on your feet, it is trying to stay dry. I have a very difficult time with this game because I don't have the right shoes. I thought bringing 4 pairs of shoes would be enought...wrong. I think Estonians must have a different pair of shoes for every day of the year. At first I needed snow boots, and then I needed boots with spikes so I wouldn't fall, and now I need rain boots so I don't get soaking wet. I was walking back to my dorm the other day and I just happen to set into a 3 inch puddle because it looked like the slushy snow...and it was dark. It's an endless cycle and I game I will never win.

The melting snow is apparently a serious problem here. If the 3 feet of snow all melt at once, it can cause some terrible flooding. For the first time, I saw a snow plow scooping the snow on the street. I asked why and I was told that it cause huge flooding problems if the snow is not removed. Now if you ask me, I think the snow should be scooped right after it snows...not when it is getting warmer and you have to worry about scooping it in time so there isn't flooding...but no one asked for my opinion. Either way, I am so glad to see the snow disappear.
